The HushTinnitus system is a set of sound tracks, customized to your own hearing, designed to instantly reduce or silence your tinnitus for a period of time. You can download your sound tracks from this website in just a few simple steps – to your computer, tablet, phone or MP3 player; or put your tracks on CD.
The HushTinnitus system uses a scientifically well-known effect called residual inhibition, in a new optimized and structured form. The HushTinnitus sound tracks contain specific sounds that are customized to your own hearing and tinnitus. For most people with tinnitus, the right sort of sound reduces or stops their tinnitus for a period of time; and this response is known as residual inhibition. The HushTinnitus system brings together the most effective types of sound from independent mainstream research (read more). The system caters for a wide variety of responses, from people with strong residual inhibition, through to providing optimized masking sounds that, when played, can keep tinnitus suppressed for those with no residual inhibition response at all. In addition, the HushTinnitus system uses numerous unique innovations to make the sound tracks as unobtrusive as possible. This makes the system ideal for comfortable all-day tinnitus relief if needed.
Could the HushTinnitus system help you? You can find out right now, in a few easy clicks. The first step is to try the free online preview. This tests your residual inhibition and masking responses, by playing you a sound optimized to your own hearing. You can then see if your tinnitus is reduced or stopped – during the sound, or for a time afterwards. If you want to, you can then buy and download your custom sound tracks. You can use the system risk-free for the next 60 days under the HushTinnitus 60-day money-back guarantee. So if you’re not entirely satisfied with the system, for any reason, just let us know within this period and we’ll refund your purchase in full. Your purchase also includes one year of email support, and a one year personal sign-in account on this website. This allows you to sign in at any time and re-create your custom sound tracks. This can be useful if your tinnitus changes, or if you simply want to re-do your hearing and tinnitus check.
Who made the HushTinnitus system?
The HushTinnitus system was developed by Clyde Witchard, who works in audio and acoustics research and development. Clyde got tinnitus after exposure to loud sound. He then spent a year reading research papers about residual inhibition and tinnitus masking. He developed the HushTinnitus system based on that research.
What’s on the sound tracks?
Your download contains 67 sound tracks, all customized to your own hearing. The tracks are grouped into five albums, for ease of use. The sound tracks cover three types of “sound structure” – called Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3. These different sound structures are designed to cater for a wide range of different tinnitus responses – from people with a strong residual inhibition response (using Type 1), through to people with less response (using Type 2), all the way through to custom-optimized masking sounds (Type 3) for people with no residual inhibition response at all. Your download contains all of these types, and a User Guide is provided that gives very simple step-by-step guidance on setting-up your sound tracks and finding the best sound type for you. The different sound types are described briefly below.
The Type 1 sound tracks play a short sound (e.g. 4 seconds long) that gently fades in and then out. This is followed by a longer period of total silence (selectable from less than a minute up to several minutes). This pattern, of sound followed by silence, simply keeps repeating. It produces very effective and sustained residual inhibition for some people. For example, listening with earphones on an MP3 player or smartphone, tinnitus can be suppressed for as long as the track is played – all day if you want. Since these tracks are mainly silence, the overall experience is quietness for most of the time, with just an occasional gently-faded short sound to maintain the residual inhibition.
Other people respond better to HushTinnitus Type 2. This plays many ultra-short quieting sounds each second, subliminally embedded in a gentle and continuous noise signal. It can be played at a lower and less intrusive sound level than standard white noise masking, to keep tinnitus suppressed. Again, this can be played for as long as you want relief.
HushTinnitus Type 3 is based on the same sound types as Type 1, but instead of being a short gently-faded sound followed by silence, the sound is continuous. It is designed to repeat for as long as you need. Type 3 can be used in two ways. You can set the volume to a low level, where the masking effect only just hides your tinnitus. The volume can be set lower than with standard white noise, so it is less noticeable. Alternatively, you can turn up the volume a little, so it is moderately louder than your normal tinnitus level, and play it for a short time (say, one minute). Research shows that this type of sound gives deeper and longer residual inhibition than simple white noise. For some people, this extended tinnitus suppression can be useful before bed, for instance.
There are actually three versions of Type 1 sound in the download (called Type 1a, 1b and 1c), as different people respond best to different types of sound. These, plus Type 2, make up the four basic sound types provided. (In a similar way to Type 1, Type 3 is split into Type 3a, 3b and 3c.)
